Travel Journals – Today’s Diary Is Tomorrow’s History

What if you used a trip diary to record a different kind of travel – a journey into the milestones of your life or the lives of loved ones? Did you ever think that your everyday life is an adventure worth preserving?

We travel for lots of reasons, such as to enrich our lives, to relax, or to visit friends and family. Travel journals are the perfect tool to capture our travel experiences, so we can preserve them and relive them.

Historians use diaries to gain information about the past. A good example is Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House series. Her father’s restlessness caused the Ingalls family to move across the Unites States, which became the basis of these famous books. A more tragic story comes from one of the most famous journals, The Diary of Anne Frank. The author described a journey that forever left a mark on history.

What do Anne Frank and Laura Ingalls Wilder have in common? Neither knew they were making history when they started their journals. Both of these girls lived extraordinary lives but started out writing about ordinary circumstances. When Anne Frank made her first diary entry, she wrote about her birthday. She did not know that her diary would become a book and historical document.

The words ‘journey’ and ‘journal’ come from the same root, from the French word meaning “a day.” Anne Frank and Laura Ingalls Wilder captured the journey of a day. All those days added up to a legacy.

What if you were to start your journal as travel of a day? Can you imagine what you would have if you wrote one sentence and took a photo of something, every day for one year? Perhaps you start out recording the ordinary, but if something extraordinary happened, it would be easy to write about it since you have already begun your daily journal.

You could concentrate on special events, such as social and family gatherings, trips, family traditions, holidays, or historical moments. Perhaps you could write about tiny trips, such as going to a movie or out to dinner. These may not seem important now, but can you imagine your grandchildren reading what you wrote?

What if you made this a family project? Imagine what you would have if every night before bedtime, your children wrote something about their day? In these days of economic uncertainty, a keepsake like this would be priceless.

If you want to, you may add photos to your journey journal. You can keep them on a CD or DVD and store them in a pocket in your diary. If your journal doesn’t have a pocket page, you can attach a CD sleeve to the inside back cover.

You can start your armchair travel anytime. Your birthday, the New Year, or today. Remember, you are capturing history, and history does not make an appointment. So why not start now? You never know what will happen tomorrow.

Oscar Wilde wrote, said, “I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train.” Perhaps your journal will not make for sensational reading now, but later, when the memories are cold and forgotten, you will have created a legacy.

Enhancing Your Pictures With Cool Photo Effects

Are you tired of always taking the same kind of photos?

Maybe the first thing for you to change is the post-production! What I mean by that is that sometimes the actual picture you have taken is very good, but it needs a bit of touching-up with a software before it actually stands out as an original and striking picture.

There are a few things you might want to take into consideration when dealing with cool photo effects. Some people have been claiming to have free image editing software and cool photo editors for free. Sometimes this is true, but in most cases this has been a very amateurish service made by scammers on the Internet. So, be careful when choosing the right service for you. Cool photo effects are not impossible to achieve but you want to take the right amount of time when creating them as they are sometimes more delicate than people would expect. The way people now a use Cool photo effect has also recently changed as new cameras have a lot of these effects integrated in their internal functions. Sometimes you might want to create your own separately as these are pre-made and very generic in appearance. This is obviously subject to personal taste.

The first few things you want to have a look at are contrast and colours. In most cases the picture is nice but does not have the “wow” factor. Try opening it with a software like Preview or PhotoShop and adjust contrast and colours. I am not going to give you a perfect recipe but basically you want to try adjusting more or less until you get an image that speaks to you.

Creating the best photo effects is easier than some people would think. It is actually very common to see pictures that have been enhanced with software retouching, whether it be on adverts or any kind of modern media. What you must absolutely remember about this kind of technique is that the more you work around it, the better you will become. Photography skills have a lot to do with spontaneity and intuition: being a great technician is sometimes not enough. You must be in the right situation, with the right people, and the right pictures will be created. But that takes a lot of trial and error of course! Cool photo effects should be taken seriously as they can make a picture that was originally dull very colourful and striking after the operation. This is an essential part of professional photography.

The Photo Effects Are Being Discussed

Numerous people don’t know much about photo effects, despite the fact that they are passionate about photography. This can be an advantage, as well as a disadvantage. Why? Things are quite simple. The photo effects are there to improve a photo shot but when they are used in excess, they just ruin it.

In order to better understand, it is important to know what the cool photography effects can do for a photo shot. For example, the photo effects that are wisely used and with a lot of creativity can enhance a photo. They can also help the photographer remove an error, as errors might occur even if you are a professional in the industry. In addition to this, those who add effects to photos can make a photo shot more beautiful than it already is. By highlighting the subject, the message of the photo becomes much clearer and the person who sees it can easily understand what the photographer was trying to transmit. When the message becomes much clearer, the photo manages to do its job. Some photography effects are used in order to add elements, remove elements or make them blurred in order for the photo’s message to be more attractive, more interesting and more exciting. Other photo effects can help the photographer transform a simple photo shot into a work of art and even create a series of works of art that can represent the object of an exhibition. These are clearly advantages of the use of photography effects. What is important to keep in mind is the fact that these photo effects are used with a limit and only by professionals who know exactly what each photo effect can do.

Those who don’t know too much about photo effects but think that they do, will find it very difficult not to ruin the photo. They will think that they will be using fun photo effects and they will completely spoil the lights, the blurred background, thinking that this is a minus of their photo shot or even the photo shot’s natural colors. This is a pity, as by thinking that they are going to improve the photo shot they are only going to waste it. These people are usually amateurs who use free photo effects, not specialized software bought from a specialized store. This is one of the big differences between amateurs and professionals.

The use of photography effects is not a bad thing as well as the photo is only improved, not completely changed. This is what amateurs should understand if they want to become professionals in the near future. There are plenty of workshops and there are plenty of professionals who organize courses for those interested in everything related to photography, so joining such courses or such workshops is a good idea. The effort is going to be worth it, as the final result is the transformation of an amateur photographer into a professional one. This transformation can bring a lot of money.
